2019 Disney Movies We’re Excited About

2019 Disney Movies

This year is jam packed with Disney movies, and we are so excited! I mean, Disney is really going above and beyond for us! So here’s our top picks that we are the most excited to see. They aren’t in any particular order, except for the one we are most excited about. I’m sure you can all figure out which one that will be.

Warning: I’m really trying to keep it spoiler free. I have two family members who are extreme about not wanting to know spoilers, and I know they aren’t the only ones out there who feel that way. But there might be some details you won’t want to know!

Captain Marvel

Marvel is finally giving us a movie that focuses entirely on the story of a female superhero! Yay! We are so excited to see the story of Carol Danvers, and get a little backstory on Phil and Fury. Brie Larson looks amazing in the posters and trailers, and I can’t wait to see this amazing female pilot turned hero come and show the world what she can do.

Aladdin

Ok, I know some people have mixed feelings after the first poster was released. But chill out people! It is going to be amazing! I don’t think it will be a shot for shot copy of the animated version, and that’s a good thing. We want some originality in our new movies. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Jasmine’s outfits – can you just imagine how gorgeous they are going to be! And I’m also super intrigued by the casting choice for Jafar – I think Disney has some interesting surprises in store for us, and that’s why the actor is younger and way better looking than I think any of us were expecting.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Homecoming was amazing. It was the first Spider-Man movie that I’ve truly enjoyed, and I loved Tom Holland’s portrayal. He put such great emotion into his portrayal, really showing the struggles and joys that Peter was experiencing. I can’t wait to see what is next for Peter Parker!

Lion King

Do I need to explain this? My one negative comment about my expectations for this movie is that it is being referred to as live action. Which it isn’t. I think we need a new category of movie, called CGI animation or something. But I can’t wait to see this one! Little Simba is the cutest, and I think we all are going to want a pet lion cub after seeing it. But, please, don’t go get a pet lion cub. That’s probably going to end poorly.

Toy Story 4

I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous about Toy Story 4. The ending of 3 was perfect, and emotionally wrecked me. So, I’m hoping that this new story will live up to all of our expectations. The fact that Key and Peele are voicing characters has me very excited.

Frozen 2

I have no words. The first Frozen was a huge deal in our house. Chloe was so excited over that movie that she planned a Frozen release party the day it was released on Blu-Ray. The story was perfect, the music was incredible, and it had great one-liners.

Star Wars: Episode 9

More Lando. More Leia (we’re all going to cry, don’t act like you won’t). What’s the plot? Who knows! But I’m looking forward to seeing how the Skywalker story concludes.

And the one we are the most excited for!!!!!!

Avengers: Endgame

Seriously! I can’t. I’m just so emotional about it. Who will live? Who will we lose forever? What role will Captain Marvel play? How badly will we ugly cry? Hint: if it’s anything like the end of Infinity War, we will ugly cry to an embarrassing level. But I can’t wait to see how Marvel ends this phase of their stories, and what they set up for the next phase. Marvel has truly done amazing things for superhero movies, elevating them beyond just good vs evil. They’ve shown heroes with flaws and doubts who fight to do what’s right even when it’s difficult, and who have learned to depend on others when they can’t fight alone. The nuance and layers have been surprising and interesting to watch.

Ok, so that’s our list. And we didn’t even cover all the Disney movies for this year! So, what are you excited about for this year?
