Happy May the 4th be with you!
You didn’t think we’d let this date just pass by without comment, did you?
If you read our blogs, you know our family loves Star Wars. A lot. So what I’m about to say might surprise some of you.
Ready? Here we go:
When I first heard about Solo, I was annoyed. Seriously annoyed. Because I don’t want a backstory on Han Solo. I like that we haven’t known the backstory of Han. We, the audience, do not need to know how Han became who he was at the beginning of A New Hope.He was a scruffy, looking out for number one, money seeking guy who chose to be better at the end. I like that his past has been a mystery. But here we are. With a Han Solo backstory.
My concern is that we are going to keep getting backstories. And if that happens, we’re going to get to the point where we get a backstory on Jar Jar Binks. And is that what we want? NO!
There I was, Super Bowl Sunday. Watching commercials and waiting for an Avengers: Infinity War promo. And it happened – they showed a commercial for Solo. And I got excited for this movie. Like, seriously excited.
If I’m being honest, it was the shot of Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, with the smirk and the fur coat, that did it for me. I was hooked.
Then I saw the commercial again and really watched it, and got more excited. The Millennium Falcon all sparkly and new, Woody Harrelson, the shot of the train doing that nifty spin around the track thing, Chewbacca.
It’s amazing. All of it. And I can’t wait.
